How To Prep Your Skin For Outside Elements

Winter is here! And we plan to stay inside until spring is upon us. Maybe not! Even if that is your plan, it might not be feasible so it is important to prepare your skin before entering the wintry weather. How can you prep your skin for the outside elements, you ask?

There are daily things to keep in my mind when the weather changes, especially those who are already inclined to dry skin. Creating daily habits and good routines with things like hydration, a gentle skincare routine, and good skincare products will make a big difference. Here are a few skincare products that will help you brave the changing weather:

Butter Balm

You can add a butter balm to your skin routine to add a layer of protection from the outside elements. A butter balm like our Better Butter (formerly known as Nipple Butter) can aid in keeping moisture inside of your skin. It acts as a barrier for the dry cold and the wind which can wreak havoc on your skin. Our Better Butter balm is a multifunctional product that can be used all over the body as well as on babies and children.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is usually slathered on in the summer but forgotten every other season. Even in the winter, sunscreen is so helpful in preventing harmful rays. It is a known fact that the sun can do more damage on cloudy days, simply because the rays are able to penetrate through the clouds. Also, if you are outside in the snow or ice, the sun rays can be reflected onto you. With these facts in mind, it is very important to make sure you are protecting yourself from sun damage which can cause premature aging and other damage.

Lip Balm

Often, during the skincare routine, our lips tend to lack the care they need and deserve. It is especially important to take care of your lips when the outside environment has become harsh. Dry chapped lips are no fun and usually lead to cracking and blistering. A way to prevent the adverse effects of dry lips is making sure to keep your lips moisturized on a daily basis. Using a lip balm with healing properties like this one can be helpful as well to not only try to prevent drying and chapping but also to aid in healing if needed.

Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is a super blood cleanser, and blood is responsible for delivering so many beauty nutrients, etc to our glowing skin.It contains natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and is a super rich source of nutrients and antioxidants for the maintenance of good health. This is a great product to add to your skin routine at any point to help fight against outside elements.

MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!

Cold weather is dry weather for the most part which means it is important to help your skin retain its moisture. Once you are out of the elements, it is important that you moisturize your skin and try to reset it to happy. If you don’t already, maybe it is time to add a serum to your routine in order to get better penetration of a moisturizer. A serums like our Triple Threat or Liquid Gold could be just what you need. Not only do they help to hydrate your skin, but they are also known to help other skin issues like acne and even skin tone.
