FIVE FOCUSES FOR THE NEW YEAR

As we begin a new year, I thought it would be a great idea to discuss activities to focus on in the year ahead in regards to our skin. Going into a new year can be exciting but also daunting with all the things you want to improve from the year before. Small changes everyday can have such a big impact over the whole year. With small everyday changes in mind, here are few things I suggest for helping you improve your skin and health in the year ahead:

Tools

Facial tools can take your skin care ritual up a notch. Gua sha can be used to lift, shape, sculpt, and drain. When used correctly, gua sha stone can be so helpful to relax the facial muscles and help with product penetration. Another tool that can aid in healthier skin is the Derma Facial Roller. A derma roller can maximize your skincare routine by incorporating this crystal roller to massage your skin. Regular massaging of your skin with this tool promotes glowing, healthy skin. Don’t forget that your hands can be such a powerful tool as well. Just taking time to massage products into your skin with your hands can do wonders.

Nourishing Your Cells

Feed your skin from within. Focus on eating your greens and fruits. Whole foods are more nutritious and healing to the body than processed foods. Limit diary if possible because it has been linked to causing inflammation in the body which can cause skin issues. Make sure your meals are full of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. Don’t forget to hydrate! Making sure to get enough water in a day is so important for normal body functions and to add in the hydration of the skin.

Lower Cortisol

When cortisol is high it can affect many bodily functions such as weight gain, insomnia or difficulty sleeping, low energy levels, and high blood pressure to name a few. It is easy to see why it can be helpful to reduce your cortisol levels in order to avoid those negative effects. You can help lower cortisol by making sure to get the right amount of sleep, avoid over exercising, deep breathing, learn to recognize stressful thinking, and eat a nutritious diet.

Learning To Love Your Version Of Self Care

It’s okay if your self care ritual doesn’t look like hers. Love your ritual because it takes care of you! Love your ritual because it is what you can do. It might not last for 10 or 20 minutes, and maybe you are only able to do it 3 times a week at max. That’s okay. Love your version because when your self care time of the day comes you won't miss it if you love it!

Making Your Self Care Space Beautiful, Tidy, & Clean

This can be so simple but so important! When things are chaotic and messy on the outside, it can make your inner self feel chaotic and messy as well. A beautiful, tidy, and clean space can create an environment that makes you want to get up in the morning and perform your skin care ritual.
