What is dry brushing? If you're not sure what dry brushing your skin is, it's a daily body massage with a dry, stiff-bristled brush that's said to help get rid of flaky skin, increase circulation, detoxify, help digestion – and even improve the appearance of cellulite. Dry brushing speeds up the rate of blood pumping, which helps spread the lymph through the body, therefore removing toxins and pathogens more quickly. Exfoliates dead skin: As with all methods of exfoliating, dry brushing gets rid of the day's dirt and oil as well as dead skin cells.

When should I dry brush?

The best time to dry brush is just before a shower. Then you can wash off any dead skin cells and flaky skin. Be sure to apply lotion afterward to put moisture back into your skin. You can do as much as daily- or only twice a week to see/feel benefits.

How to Use:

To dry brush, you use a natural-bristle brush to gently but firmly brush your skin in long strokes toward your heart, usually going over each area two or three times. At your belly, you brush in a clockwise motion. Dry brushing is typically done before showering, and should be followed with a vitamin-rich moisturizer.

How to Clean:

Simply scrub the tool with warm water and a gentle soap. Make sure to set it out to dry with the bristles facing up so they don't collect any mildew or bacteria. If you''d like to clean your dry brush in between washes, feel free to mist it with a tea tree solution (1 part tea tree oil, 2 parts water). I do mine once a month.
