Why Facial Massage is a Powerful Anti-Aging Procedure

Anti-aging treatments are all the rage in beauty and skincare, and with good reason: the industry has been making leaps and bounds in terms of revolutionizing the way we care for our skin with regards to aging.  And this is by no means stating that we don’t want to age! Aging is a LUXURY and a beautiful thing. It’s more about treating the skin you have, in a gentle and loving way, to allow it to glow, and shine like it should.  Between serums, chemical exfoliators and other potent topical treatments, along with a slew of surgical options, there is one anti-aging procedure that we feel just hasn’t gotten enough hype: facial massage.

What is Facial Massage?

More than simply a massage for the face, there are a myriad of techniques and tools that make up the broader category of facial massage. At its core, facial massage is about promoting healthy, glowing skin, relaxing the facial muscles and bringing out a rejuvenated look and feel to the face. It also helps to wake up your lymph, which helps to clear + carry so much garbage out of your system.

Depending on the specific technique used, facial massages can be performed both by a trained professional in the form of a facial or can be done on your own with a consistent massage routine. Facial massage might involve lotions or oils and they might include tools like jade rollers, facial reflexology tools or gua sha.  But beyond the different ways one might practice facial massages, the benefits are undoubtedly similar: an immediate healthy glow plus long term anti-aging benefits like minimizing fine lines and improving skin elasticity among others.

Facial Massage for Anti-Aging

We believe in the power of facial massage for its ability to improve the overall appearance of skin with no surgical intervention necessary. Since massage boosts blood circulation, bringing with it a fresh dose of oxygen and other nutrients to the skin, it results in a healthier, more radiant glow post-treatment. Better blood flow can also promote a more even tone to the complexion, and help with inflammation. The stimulation of the muscles of the face can help tighten skin, improve sagging skin and relieve stress and tension in the face and neck.

Facial massage can clear out the pores and aid in the optimal absorption and penetration of skincare products, which is why you should always follow your treatment with a serum that targets your specific skin condition.

Over time, a consistent facial massage routine, whether with a trained professional or at home, can improve skin elasticity and texture, reduce swelling in the face and under the eyes and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

When it comes to anti-aging procedures, facial massage is one of those additions to your skincare routine where you really can’t go wrong. Not only does it provide an excellent stress-relieving and relaxing benefit, but it is a surgical-free way of promoting a healthy, youthful visage. I recommend adding a facial massage to your skincare regimen 2-3 times a week (*you can change this to your best recommendation) for best results. Facial massage is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to beautiful skin- as following a healthy diet, staying physically active, drinking an adequate amount of water each day and staying rested are all equally important for radiant skin.  If you have been in for one of our luxurious, holistic facial treatments, you know what I mean.
