Hemp + Sesame Seed Mylk
So easy, full of protein and fibre- and cheap! None of those crazy fillers that can make our tummies go a rumblin'.
1/2 cup hemp seeds
1/4 cups sesame seeds
1/4 cup black sesame seeds
2 pitted dates (sweetness)
splash vanilla extract
pinch sea salt
3 cups filtered water
Throw everything in a blender (my vitamin grinds everything, those little black sesame seeds can be a bit of a pain blending). I didn't use a strainer because I like the texture and fibre, but feel free to strain throw nut milk bag or cheesecloth. Close lid tight on jar and store in fridge for up to 5-6 days. It will separate so just shake each time before using. I love it in coffee, tea, granola, golden milk, etc.
Black sesame seeds are an amazing source of 2 vital minerals, magnesium and calcium. A 1/4 cup gives our bodies:
- 126 mg of magnesium, or 32 percent of the Recommended Daily Value (DV)
- 351 mg of calcium (35 percent of the DV).
- They help to fight bad cholesterol. These little buys are rich in the plant compound phytosterols. Getting more phytosterols in your diet helps to decrease blood cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of developing certain types of cancer. Sesame seeds offer the highest phytosterols!
